Every summer Sarajevo hosts the famous „Sarajevo Film Festival“ (SFF). It is one of the top 5 movie festivals in Europe. However, this is not the most important that attracts thousands of tourists and actors to our city. The unique feeling of Sarajevo during SFF is something which cannot be described, but only felt, and our participants are living proof. The idea for making a workshop during the SFF was came to us because we wanted to share this atmosphere with other EESTEC-ers, and give them a week they'll never forget. And thus, the „eMovie Academy“ was born.
The name „eMovie Academy“ was perfect for an EESTEC workshop during the SFF. The academical purpose of the workshop was to teach participants about filming and producing a short movie. They had the chance to do that by making four short movies about Sarajevo, the subjects being: „Multi-religious Sarajevo“, „ The Bridges of Sarajevo“, “ A History of Sarajevo“ and „Crafts in Sarajevo“. An expert from the field of film making dr. Selma Rizvić, helped by her colleague Vanja Jovišić, held the lectures and helped the participants with the production in general.

The workshop started on the 23rd of July. Participants had chance to experince academical and fun part at the same time. In first few days particpants recorded the video material needed for their movies and in the second phase they edit it and made it as short amateur movies. We didn't forget fun part :). As it was mentioned before, it was time of SFF and we were the rare ones who walked on Red Carpet on the movie premiere. It was the same Red Carpet where starts like Bono Vox, Morgan Freeman, Mickey Rourke and Gillian Anderson walked :). Besides those parts, participants also had chance to meet the night life in Sarajevo, visit “Terme Ilidža“ (pool and thermal spa) and to learn rock climbing.
It was 7 days full of movies, learning, fun and EESTEC spirit!
